So You Never Forget

I’ll leave the porchlight on for you

so you can find your way home

         in the darkness.

And if you stumble through the night

   I’ll come and help.

Lean on me,

    as we limp back home;

as we find our way to the light again.

And if you are too drunk

     And can’t drive,

And everything inside of you is breaking,

So you sit on the curb outside the bar,

And cry,

I’ll come and pick you up.

I’ll take you home.

     I’ll be the porchlight.

I’ll be the lighthouse.

I’ll be your warmth in the cold.

I’ll be here for you.

     You stayed for me,

I’ll stay for you.

      Take your time, Love,

And come back to me when you're ready.

I’ll leave the porchlight on every night,

so you never forget,

     you’re welcome home.
