Nothing Interesting

“I don't know how anyone can work a full-time job and have a hobby, Babe.”
“I feel the same way. I wasn’t made to work forty hours a week.”
“I can’t find the time to write. I don't have enough energy for anything else besides working, minimal exercise and a fading social life.”
“There aren’t enough hours in the day.”
“Imagine what it will be like when we have a baby? And then a toddler?”
“We won’t even have time to breathe.”
“How will we manage?”
“Insanity?”
“Maybe. I’ve been on the brink of it awhile now.”
“Ever since you met me?”
“You really understand me, Babe. I love you.”
“You’ll find time to write, Love. Once we are out of this hole you won’t have to work as hard. Then we will have time for our passions.”
“What about when we have kids? Won’t we be in an ever bigger hole? And what about when we buy a house? Won’t that hole get deeper and deeper?”
“I don’t know, Love. Let’s talk about something else. This is stressful.”
“Okay.”
“. . . Guess what my coworker had to say today?”
“What?”
“Nothing interesting. They never have anything interesting to say. Honestly, everyone is pretty boring.”
“What does that make us? We talk about people who we can’t stand to hear talk?”
“You are such a grump tonight.”
“Yeah. Sorry.”
“Maybe we are getting too old to talk this way?”
“Maybe.”
