Back When Tiger's Smoked

Updated: Oct 6

Back when Tiger’s smoked,

Which was a long, long time ago,

In a Galaxy inside of this one,

        Slept a lady, peacefully,

         Before a dream,

          Tossed and turned her . . .

In her dream,

 A rapper,

  Turned pop star,

   Wished upon a shooting star,

    For her to be his,

Asking her if they could be “Professional Friends”.

She turned down the tall blonde tattooed clown,

Despite his money and only wish,

But then a montage played clips of their relationship,

And real memories flooded her dream.

. . .

Her knees started to shake,

Before she walked down the aisle,

terrified she was about to make a mistake.

    Tears streamed down her face,

    Hidden under the veil,

     From 400 watching eyes.

She wondered if any of them realized that

She was walking the plank to her inevitable demise . . .

But, right before she was about to say “I do”,

Tom Hardy busted through the locked doors,

      Demanding more for the lady.

400 eyes looked at him as if he was crazy,

         But her eyes dried,

As she tried to walk off of the stage,

           Away from this terrible play.

Her and Tom

    Drove through the night

To meet her mom in Idaho,

Listening to heavy metal and rock and roll.

In his old black 66’ Impala SS.

They rolled down the highway together,

As he told her all about his dreams and schemes.

He told her about his purpose and his means.

He ripped off her wedding dress,

And threw it out the window.

He had always hoped he’d meet a lady to share his life with,

    Before he got too old.

He just never imagined meeting the best woman ever made,

At this place,

   At this stage,

Of her life,

    But he knew,

He’d fight for their future together,

     If he had to.

It turned out,

   all of the rivers,

      And all of the roads,

Led them to their little home

         In Idaho.

. . .

She tried to stay asleep,

   But a sun beam

Peaked through a crack in the blinds,

Hitting her right in the eyes.

         She squeezed them tight.

          Holding onto Tom,

            But it was too late,

              The dream would soon fade,

And she would wake back when Tiger’s smoked,

Which was a long long time ago,

In a Galaxy inside of this one.
