Until The Broken Live Again

Healing
looks like
time passing,
but
time can only be lived,
so
I bet healing looks like trying to live again.
Healing looks like a broken person trying their best to live again . . .
For me
healing looked like a bottle of whiskey and hundreds of shitty poetry.
Healing looked like: a bong, a new job, an infinite playlists of the world's saddest songs, a dark room, a ceiling fan, and letting go of every plan I ever had.
Healing looks like dying,
and dying looks like healing;
the slow let go of a part of your soul that once felt like home.
Healing looks like moving on.
Remember,
healing isn’t just for the strong.
Healing is in everything.
It’s in all life.
It’s in all of nature.
It’s almost inevitable.
Almost . . .
As long as we live
we can heal again.
As long as we breathe
we can try to live before it all ends.
All alone
in a dark room,
we will toss and turn.
Lessons will burn.
People will have left us broken and bleeding.
It’ll look like we won’t ever be able to trust again.
Healing looks like stardust breaking on the inside. A whole imaginary world exists behind our sad eyes.
We will be stuck in our minds,
in a moment stretched out for all of time.
Healing looks like surviving the night until the seconds before the sunrise.
Healing looks like raging against death.
Healing looks like a speck of dust suspended in a beam of light.
Healing looks like getting up again for the fight.
Healing looks like another sleepless night.
Healing looks like black-eyes and escapism.
Healing looks like vomiting out a book or five just to stay alive.
Healing looks like a nose dive into the deep end and hoping you can swim.
Healing looks like trying again after dying a few hundred times.
Healing looks like wandering around the maze in our mind.
It’s probably true, though, healing looks different for everyone,
but everyone can help us heal—
everything alive can help us survive.
It lives in:
The Tree’s
The River’s
The laughs
The stories
The Sunset’s
The people we’ve met
The friends we have
Our dreams
The things we believe
The kids
The coffee
The whiskey
The rain
The pain
The maze
Our family
Nieces and nephew’s
Breathtaking views
Doing something new.
Healing lives in facing our fears
and embracing the tears.
Healing looks like feeling it all.
Healings looks like a free-fall.
And
finally,
healing looks like having the courage
to try it all again and again and again and again,
until the dead rise
and the broken live.
