Find me
In the cheapest clothes
In the shittiest car
Drinking the cheapest beer
In the most expensive town
Where I will be
yearning for the most the beautiful lady in history
Who just left me
Find me
in the middle of this story
And yank me out
Abduct me, if you can
Grab me by the collar
and drag me out of here
Reach for me between the pages
Find me in the space between words
And save me
. . .
Whoa!
Hey!
Let me go!
I wasn’t being serious! I was being dramatic!
Holy shit balls!
I’ve changed my mind!
Set me down!
Not in the desert!
Not here!
Anywhere else but here!
No, take me home!
. . . take me back home . . .
Not here.
Please.
‘
It’s hot.
I’m thirsty.
My vision is blurry.
I am worried . . . I will die here.
Why did you do this to me?
Why would you listen to me?
Eventually,
A lizard in a Hawaiian shirt waddles up to me. He’s on two legs.
I am so thirsty.
He whispers,
“No man can walk out on his own story.”
Shit.
Shit.
Shit.
This little goofy lizard is right.
I must continue to write this story of mine.
I am _____, and I haven't always liked my name, or my life, but it is mine.
This life is mine. And one day it will end.
So, I’ll try to rock this shit.
I’ll wear the fuck out of these clothes,
I’ll dropkick this lizard to the moon
And enjoy this cheap beer
I’ll breathe and blast music into my soul,
as I cruise around this uppity town.
I am only human, after all,
Not a God or a legend,
And one day my story will end.
“No man can walk out on his own story,” the wind whispers to me.
I embrace this life . . .
Find me
In the cheapest clothes
In the shittiest car
Drinking the cheapest beer
In the most expensive town
Where I will be
yearning for the most the beautiful lady in history
Who just left me
Find me
in the middle of this story
And have a beer with me
While telling me about your own story.
Because
I am curious
who you are
and who you will choose to be.
