It Comes From The Soul
From the soul, young man,
It comes from the soul
It’s in the first snow fall of the year
There’s magic in undisturbed snow
A white quiet blanket silences the world
And everything feels so
Still . . .
It comes from the guitar
A few notes
A few lines
And the world hopes . . .
It’s in love, isn't it, son?
All of sudden
Poetry makes sense
Music goes deeper
Beauty changes
The soul grows
All because we found a hand to hold . . .
It lives in beauty, it’s true, but unfortunately it lives in pain, too
Suffering
Rock bottom
Regret
Heart break
It would a mistake to focus on what aches
While ignoring the subtle joys of life
And it would be mistake to romanticize happiness
And beauty
While avoiding the rain
There’s beauty in the rain, Little Dove
There are storms within love
There’s pain
And there’s joy
Mixed with the itch to explore.
It’s all in your soul, young lady
You feel so much and others have called you crazy
You hide from the world when you feel overwhelmed
And your mother calls you lazy
So you never ask anyone for help
But you are you
And from the soul
You will find you
Not lazy
Not crazy
Not too much
Not too sensitive
You feel
And that makes you real
Feel your soul, young man
Free your soul, young lady
Feel it all
And let it fall off of you
like the leaves on the trees do.
