Hope Under Some Shade

I was on a jog

In the middle of July

Following a trail that runs along a river

And as I was jogging through a park

I saw an elderly couple

With a tiny foldable table

And two cups of mcdonalds coffee

Sitting under a little tree

With just enough shade

To cover them and the table

I stopped for a second

And stared at them

They were so happy

With their little table

Their little shade

And the mcdonalds coffee

It reminded me how happy

The tiniest things can be

With the right person

Regardless of age

Or

Time spent together

There is something so beautiful

About elderly couples

And their love for each other

That has survived decades

Seeing them

Brings me

A little

Hope.
