Life seems good for a blink

And then

Adversity

Then

Broken ribs

A torn hamstring

A broken heart

A torn shoulder

A broken hand

A broken arm

A head gasket blowing

A sick dog

A dying grandfather

A timing belt snapping

A boss that sucks

A sick niece

A bank account

With no money in it

A book

Left unfinished

It goes up

And then it goes down

Always down

After the up

That’s just the way life flows

The hits keep coming

But if we keep trying

If we hold steady

If we don’t waver

Despite horrible times

Life gives the good again

And then

You blink
