A True Thing
One more chance before she fades away forever
Pulled into the eternal present
It’s now or never
It can’t get worse
Only better, right?
It can’t get much darker
It has to dawn soon . . .
Although, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen the first light.
Blackout curtains hide it all.
Icarus is singing to you mid-fall.
What am I supposed to do about this flight?
A giant car with wings wants to hear me sing,
So as my plane nosedives into the sea,
I sing a song that finally gets you to see me.
Set sail and find me.
I’ll be floating on hope
And thanking the trees that I can’t see.
I’m only joking.
I am fine.
This isn’t pride,
it’s simply a lie to hide my eyes.
I’m alright.
This isn’t fear,
it’s simply a line to try to fake my way to feeling okay.
I’m no mastermind,
just stuck somewhere back in time.
I’m no demon,
but I’m not an angel, either.
I am just a man without a plan.
I’m not an asshole,
But I do have a few holes in my soul.
I am sorry.
And that is a line
so true you could search all of space and time
and never find a line as true.
I am sorry . . .
And I love you.
