A Dog's Dream

My dog

Stirs in his sleep sometimes

And I know

That he is dreaming

But

What the hell

Do dogs dream about??

If animals dream

Then do they have a subconscious?

Because

If they do

Then how different are they from us?

I don’t think we could ever understand a dog’s dream

They must live in

Such a different reality then we do

Their consciousness

Must be very different

So trying to imagine

That I could write about a dog’s dream

Would be stupid

And I am not high enough yet

To try

It's probably the ego

That makes us assume

They might be dreaming about us

And that idea

Is somehow both

The sweetest thing

And also

Heartbreaking
