Wolves (Part 4)

Wolves hunted them
Hungry wolves
Territorial wolves
Relentless wolves
They had been stalking them for three days now
Stopping for one of those nights
They made a fire
But couldn’t find any sleep
For the relentless wolves howled through the entirety of the night
Reminding them that they were still being hunted
The big wolf
Probably the alpha
Had hungry yellow eyes
And a dark gray coat
He was a monster
A true monster
An intelligent savage
He lead the pack of 7
And had been leading them for awhile
One of the men
Had given up
Saying he finally found clarity
And that giving up brought him a feeling of peace
He jumped into a frozen lake
Attempting to kill himself
But the two men he was with
Jumped in
And pulled him out
Saving the life he tried to throw away
They were carrying him up the mountain now
Taking turns until the one doing the carrying would collapse from exhaustion
Then the other fella would pick him up
And continue up the mountain
He was almost dead
Half frozen
Shaking terribly
Pale as a ghost
He was food for the alpha and his pack
But the two men wouldn’t leave him behind
They refused too
No matter how much he begged them to
They carried on
Determined to get to the top
As if all of their problems would be solved at the top
But there was no help up there
Only stronger winds and a better view
And even when they could feel the heat from the breath of the wolves on the back of their necks
They didn’t give up
And even when a pale rider in a giant black horse
Came to collect the man
They didn’t yield
No, instead these crazy fucks taped broken glass to their knuckles
And painted their faces with mud
And howled back at the wolves
While flipping off The Reaper
Death was coming for them from all angles
Yet, they stood their ground
And continued the climb
And on the fourth day
The wolves attacked.
