Where Is Superman?

Where is Superman?
We have Lex Luther as our president,
But no Superman.
Ain’t that screwy?
We have our symbols of greed,
But what we really need
Is a symbol of hope.
Where are you, Superman?
Ain’t there a balance to all of this?
Don’t we believe in the law of equal opposites?
If we have real villains here,
Then shouldn’t we have real heroes?
Where’s the person we can believe in?
Where is our savior?
When money is power,
What do the poor do in their darkest hour?
Who do they turn to?
Where are you, Superman?
I look up at the sky and see only clouds.
I look out into the world and I don’t feel proud.
If it is so dark down here,
Then where is the light?
Where is the yellow sun, Superman?
Don’t you dare take Jesus’s name in vain.
God left us a long time ago,
And now there is just pain.
Don’t use his name to play the game.
Don’t hide behind the lies.
Look up to the sky
And try to find the man that can fly.
When your feet leave this earth,
And you start to float,
Don’t be afraid.
You’ve always been him.
The sun was always within.
Now it’s your turn to hold up the world.
It’s your turn to shine.
When Jesus has become a myth,
When God laughs at us,
And when there is no superman ,
That's the time to shine.
When the world needs you,
That’s when you become the light.
When everyone is losing hope,
That’s when we fight.
When it feels impossible to try,
That’s when we fly.
