Whatever She Believes He Is

How did we get here?
Trouble in the air
Tension brewing in our bellies
A chalk outline on my bed
An animal raging inside of your head
You see a savage
A dog in heat
Someone who can’t bleed
But really
Just a shattered spine
And a troubled mind
Persists in this
No heroes exists
No villains over here
He is whatever she believes he is.
Coward eyes shine in this dark
Stopping before the start
Soon he’s pushing a shopping cart out to the woods
Where he lives
While she flies to mexico again
Too prideful to forgive
Too scared to jump
Out as soon as it got rough
Broken sins
Chained to our legs
We all got some baggage, babe
We all got our suspicions
But, she wouldn’t listen to him
She couldn’t stomach giving it more attention
An angel
Or a demon?
She is whatever he believes she is,
And today she feels like a toothache to him.
