What Would It Take

What would it take

What would it take

What would it take

For this little world to change?

A little floating ball of tension and rage

What would it take

What would it take

What would it take

To change this little world's fate?

What would it take

What would it take

What would it take

For us to admit our mistakes?

What would it take

What would it take

What would it take

To change this little world

Before it’s too late?

What would it take

What would it take

What would it take

To stop a little of this world’s hate?

What would it take

What would it take

What would it take

To pump the brakes?

What would it really take

To spin this little world

The other way?

I wonder

What it would take

For us to rise

And climb

Until we reach the people at the top

With the strings

. . . I wonder what song a revolution sings?

One more than the Canary’s song

One that doesn’t just warn of danger

But one that could unite strangers

One to change our behavior

And get the world to fight

Not in a violent way

But in a way to say

Here we are

Here we live

This is our little planet

And we are here to stay

I really wonder some days

What it would take

For this little world to change

What it would take

To transcend the stage

And I wonder if takes more than just being brave

To turn and face

Everything we’ve ever done

And say

Not again

Not this time

Not while I am here and alive.

The Mountain Moved

Behind Her Eyelids

A nightmare fluttered behind her eyelids. She was naked and her ankle was chained to an anchor. The current raged against her. She swam and swam and swam going nowhere. The sea was cold; the sky was
