The Same Spark That Starts The Brushstroke

It's a stirring of the soul

The same spark that starts the brushstroke

The first note that leads the charge into a crescendo

It’s life at first light after the darkest of nights

A pluck on a guitar string as a broken heart starts to sing

A planted seed that could grow into anything

A single step up a spiraling staircase leading out of hell

It’s the first word of a poem dancing with the pen

A broke artist taking everything within and using it to imagine

A ghost trying to live again

A blade of grass in a different world touching skin

It’s the combination of everything and nothing

It’s you and I

It’s the climb out of rock bottom

It lives in everyone's eyes

It’s why I try

It’s why I am alive

It’s in the rebellious spirit who wants to fight

It’s in our beliefs

And it lives in our dreams

It flies when lies die

It is the truth in disguise

It’s in every moment since the beginning of time

It existed before us

It roams the air freely

It’s in every breath we breathe

It’s in the atoms we can’t see

It’s in the mountains and it’s in the sea’s

It’s in loneliness and it’s in love

A confession to a lover

A thank you to a brother that was never spoken

A letter to an unborn daughter telling her to be better then you were

It’s in the words we can’t speak

Forged in hell’s heat

Cooled in the rivers that flow through heaven

A gift from the god’s

A curse and a purpose

A blessing and a bleeding

A meaningful sacrifice

A miracle waiting on the other side of fear

It starts with a glass of wine

And a stirring of the soul

Mix it with the urge to rebel

Combined with a mind who wants to explore

And the thirst for something more

Add a heart that feels everything so deeply

A weight that feels so heavy

A body on empty

And the desiree to rise again

The invincible sin

And the shadow

The confession

And the lessons

It swirls and flows

Before the let go

And then it ends as mysteriously as it begins.
