“The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.” -Jack London
It is not enough just to exist.
Thanks, Jackie boy.
I needed this reminder.
It is
Not
Enough
Just to be,
We must
Become.
Existing isn’t the goal here, living is.
How many different ways I can say the same thing as you, Jackie boy? How many lives can I live?
To float around town,
Looking around,
Observing everything and everyone,
Isn’t enough.
Working a job and coming home to make dinner, to walk your dog, and watch your comfort show, just to repeat that pattern for five days of that week, is not enough. This is not life.
It’s not living, it’s reacting. It’s coping with existing.
Nothing is done without radical action. Life cannot be lived until action is taken. And the paths we wish to forge cannot be blazed without constant action.
You’re in a race against your environment. Will it shape you before you even know who you are? Will it mold you to its will? Or will you rage against it and live properly?
Who will you become before your life is done?
It is not enough just to exist.
Thanks, Jackie boy.
I needed this reminder.
