The Green Knight

Days like this one
Where I could drown in a booze
And smoke a jungle
And still feel too much
Because I finally opened up
And let someone in
What a mistake
What another tragic mistake
To love
And be loved
Is to be poisoned
With no antidote
There is only death
From love
Love only brings death, I’m almost certain of it
Love’s equal opposite is inevitable
The scariest villain of them all always wins in the end,
death
. . .
Yet,
The Green Knight
Marches forth
To meet his inevitable death
His life’s been a mess
He’s failed every test of honor and courage
He’s drank and fucked his young life away
But today
Fate beckons
Calling him to meet Death
Despite being a coward
He mounts his horse
And rides out to meet the reaper
With his chin held high
Still full of his pride
. . .
Not loving well
Used to be
His biggest fear
So he’d steer clear
Of any chance
At real love
Until she fell
Into
His life
. . .
His muse faded away today
An inevitable
Fate
She pulled back
And left him in pieces
So she could find peace
And I think this is it for them
I don’t think he can trust her anymore
This is the end
And I don’t know what to do now . . .
The song
Playing through my headphones
Tells me
That to let a good love die
Is the worst of all the sins
So,
The Green Knight rises
And begins again
Despite life's inevitable
Tragic
End.
