Surrendering

I surrender, dear lover,
I surrender to you and I
So much of my fate rests on your choices,
so I let go of control
and hope
this time
you’ll catch me.
I have faith we won’t repeat the same mistakes
If you chose me, you chose me
and if you lose me, you lose me;
but who would you be if you lost me
after I surrendered to you so gently;
so willingly?
Who
would you be
if you were the type of lady
who could lose me?
Let me go
if you need to
Let me go, if you can.
Just know, I will choose to stay.
Free me, if you don’t want a future with me,
but I may stay
until you’re ready.
Who do you want to be, love?
I surrender to every possibility.
Whatever you want
Whatever you need.
Still water, dear lover,
I long for still waters with you;
a peace that only seems to exist
if you are in my dreams.
A shared life is the one I want,
and everything inside of me screams
to share my life with you;
but,
if you don’t have the same dreams,
if this is not what you want or need,
then
let it end.
We will never play pretend. No, not you and I.
We are made for what’s real; we never could tolerate the bullshit.
So, if it ends, it ends. And if it lasts, it lasts.
But today, love lives.
Yes, babe, today love still lives.
This, I know. Today is not a performance or a show. Today is real.
And today I surrendered to love.
Take my head from shoulders,
Or
take my heart and keep it for a while;
whatever you want;
whatever you need.
I am surrendering to every possibility.
