Orpheus and Achilles

Orpheus and Achilles sing songs inside of me
Songs of war
Songs of love
Songs of suffering
Songs of the Gods
These two aren’t as opposites as you might think
No, I’d say they’ve found some sort of harmony
With Achilles shredding the electric guitar
Perseus on the drums
And Orpheus singing his bloody heart out
With his Lyre in hand
They jam out
They rock hard
They create something together
Music
Orpheus writes the songs
But Achilles rewrites them
To make them edgier
Hermes manages the band
And they’re signed to Dionysus Industries
He makes them perform for him on a whim
The God’s love to dance to their music
Yes, the God’s put them through hell
Then caged them on a stage
Where the God’s dance to their children’s pain and rage
Just so they can be entertained . . .
Achilles wants to fight back
To terminate our contract
To be free from the God’s
Like the God’s did to the Titans
All those years ago
But the show
Goes on
And on and on
There is no stopping the God’s.
