Lost In Time

She is lost in time
And I am lost in my mind
Out of the head and into the heart . . .
But the dying of the light has a head start . . .
I’ve been stuck in my own head for so long
That the beat my heart beats is weak
I took it for granted
Assuming it was strong
But
The maze in my mind grew
While my heart rotted away
When I met her
I thought what I always assumed would be true
Out of the head and into the heart . . .
But the dying of the light has a head start . . .
I thought the coward was gone
I thought I was ready
I thought my heart would stay steady
Heavy
It all got so heavy
My hearts beat was too weak to beat back
The relentless attack
From the maze between my ears
The maze that fed off of doubts and fears
The expanding maze grows in my mind
While she floats somewhere through time
Somewhere between nostalgia and quick glimpses through my eyes
I thought all we needed was a little more time . . .
But time is what she is lost in
Where we begin is where we end
And then it all starts again
The circular nature of time?
Or the circular nature of the maze in my mind?
Will these patterns ever break?
Out of the head and into the heartbreak . . .
Where the growing darkness consumes at a rapid pace
Oh how a soul can ache . . .
Oh how I wish we can live in a past date
Grab the last star in the sky before it dies
Change our fate
Make a wish on it
Give me one last kiss
Before I say goodbye to best woman I ever met,
The lady lost in time
Out of the head and into the heartbreak . . .
I will wander
And I will wait
Lost in time
Or stuck in the mind
I will wait
For when the time aligns us again
When you are healed
And I am real
I will wait
I will wait for as long as it takes
I will grab the last star in the sky before it dies
And change our fate
After that
I’ll wait
For as long as it takes.
