For The Spirit

I stopped moving my body

And my belly has grown over my belt

And my muscles disappeared

Now I am short and hairy—with a dad bod

    I eat food

And then food eats me

   The brain runs laps

But the biceps shrink

   Knowledge grows

And so does my belly

     But

This little life

    Is the brain

And the body

   And the spirit

And we have to work all three

If we want to be healthy

So, I’ll go on a jog

  And pick up some weights

To work the body

I’ll write, read and learn

   For the brain

And for the spirit

     I’ll fight and fuck

Like my life depends on it

Because

It turns out

My life really does depend on it.
