Beauty Against The Beast

The beauty raged against the pain

It met a wave of rage

Just a little beauty

   Against a sea of suffering

Just a little light

    Shining on the infinite fight

Beauty against a beast

    Something stirring underneath

The stuff of dreams

    The meat of a story

The deciphering of sin

The monkey trying to become human

The leap

   The race

The forever war

    Beauty against pain

The brain or the body

   Novelty or a shitty copy

The little beauty stood against the raging sea

And let the waves crash against her

All alone she stood

   Fighting the chaos

Protesting against the myths

   A little spark of humanity

Looking up at all of eternity

   And finding

True

   Beauty  . . .

She didn’t waver

   Or look for help

She just looked up

   Into all of eternity

A seed of hope

    A grain of romance

A twinkle of a miracle

   Flickered in her eyes

As she tried

   To be more than before

To be beauty in the pit of suffering

To shine so someone else can see

She was shining for you and me . . .

    An impossible stand

A preposterous mission

   An absurd vision

A little beauty in the pit of suffering

    A human invention

  A spark of intuition

    More than just the material

A real human living in the real world

    Flesh and blood

Created here and now

   Not by a God above

A person in the present

  Choosing who to be

    Living for us

More than greed and lust

    A pocket of free will

To fight against the wheel

    She stood alone

Against it all

While certain eyes screamed for her to fall

Through it all

    She stood tall

Just to be

   Beauty

Something for us

  To believe in again

So when we are in the pit that feels like it’ll never end

   We can climb out

And see beauty again
