An Uninspired Line

An uninspired line
The heart barely beats before it flatlines
Holding onto time with both hands
A hollow soul
Meant for so much more
The sidewalks crack
Everything falls apart
We don’t get our fading seconds back
The fire eventually dies
Warmth turns cold
A coward tries to be bold
A new song
A new face
A new hope
Before it all breaks
She pushes
He pulls
Then he pulls
And she pushes
Before it rains
An uninspired line
Left behind by the divine
Everything starts in the mind
Everything shines
And everything eventually dims
Everyone sins
Everyone lies
Everyone dies
Yet, so many still try
Why?
Why love anything at all
if in the end
we fall?
I love to see
a flower
blooming between
the cracks in
the sidewalk . . .
I stop and stare
in awe of nature's ability to adapt and survive
Even in this cold material world,
full of cement and pavement,
flowers bloom in the cracks
Light shines
Love still finds a way
Everything starts in the mind.
