After Your Beauty

What will you be

     after your beauty

fades away?

What will be your energy?

Will you still be kind?

Will you have developed your mind?

Or did you spend all of your time stuck in the grind?

What will you be

when you are old?

How will you make people feel?

You think only right now matters?

Who are you, and who will you be?

Me and you will still be here

for the next 100 hundred years, if we're lucky,

and I wonder

what will we become?

Who would you be without your money?

And who would you be without your honey?

And who are you without your family?

What will you do if your kid doesn't grow up to love you?

Who would you be

  without this rotting country

     to protect you?

Take away all of your things,

and what could you still bring

        to this life thing?

. . .

What will you be

     after your beauty

fades away?

What will be your energy?

Will you still be kind?

Will you have developed your mind?

Or did you spend all of your time stuck in the grind?
