A Poem For My Tombstone

“Here lies the body of Clint Clifford Haugen,

He tried to be a writer

He tried to be a fighter

He tried to love

He tried to live

He put himself out there for the world to cast stones

He tried to be a decent person

He tried to be better

but trying,

has now turned into never.

Here lies the body of the man who tried

but never became.

Here Lies Clint Clifford Haugen,

‘The Tryer’.”
