“Your nervous system doesn’t respond to the world as it IS; it responds to the world as you THINK it is.”
“Says who??”
“Science.”
“Psh. Who’s science?”
“THE science.”
“Eh, I don’t buy it.”
"Nothing means anything except the meaning you give it.”
“Huh? Listen, my guy, relax. Take a breath. Life isn’t a problem to solve. Reality isn’t a mystery, it is an experience. Take a drink. Have a smoke. Watch a show. Have sex. Let it all go. The ride will be over before you know it. Don’t spend all of your time trying to figure out the meaning of life without living.”
“That was philosophy, by the way. And I live. And I think. You just live without thinking.”
“Oh boy. Here we go again. Go ahead and tell me how much better you are at living than I. Go on . . . I’ll wait. I know you want to.”
“. . . Your life is a deception of your perception.”
“Hey man, let me drink in peace without having to take on the existential weight of existence.”
“Hairless monkey.”
“Pretentious turd.”
