The Cold Sun And The Bleeding Moon

With the sun in the sky

We’d smile and laugh

We’d walk on the sidewalks

Holding hands

Going nowhere

Skin soaking up the sun

We’d eat and drink

Forgetting to thank the animals who died

Just to feed our bellies

Forgetting about the feet that stomped on our grapes

As the poison glides down our throats

Oh yes,

When the sun was out

We were out

But the moonlight

He’d bring a whole different energy

In the moonlight

We’d lock eyes

And undress each other

We’d melt together

More one being, then two

Our skin

Must’ve absorbed the warmth from the sun

Because the heat we feel from each others bodies

When the lights were off and the moon was out,

It felt like the warmth from that star

That moonlight

And that wine

And her

It was everything

And it was always fleeting

Somewhere

In between the sun and the moon

We lost each other

And now

The sun feels cold

And the moon is bleeding
