Sartre's ‘Other’
Is something like,
'Our own reflection in the eyes of another
And they can see themselves
In our eyes
There is no ‘I’
Because we are a’ we’
And there is no ‘we’
Because we are an ‘I’'
I am no student of Sartre
So this may be an over-simplification
But,
I can’t help but think
That the internet is another example
Of our souls
Reflected back at us
It's another ‘Other’.
How many mirrors do we need
in order to truly see ourselves?
And how many of us
like the reflections life exposes us to?
It’s you,
Me
And everyone else
From now
Until forever
And if you don’t like what you see in others
Take a good look
At your own reflection.
