$100

This man

pulled out $100,

and gave it to me

He said it was for the bachelor party I had just been to.

“I meant to give this to you before you left, but didn’t see you. This is to gamble with.”

“This is just about what I lost! This is phenomenal! Thank you, Richard!”

The words that echoed in my mind on the last night of the bachelor party, as I was lying awake

on that couch,

staring at the ceiling fan,

thinking about all of the money I had lost,

reform in my mind.

“God is other people. If you are asking me for help, then you are actually asking them. God is other people. God is other people.”

There’s no way Richard could’ve known how much $100 meant to me at that moment.

And it meant everything.
